Manchester United are reconsidering their options after a £20 million bid for Samir Nasri was rejected by Arsenal, according to the Guardian.

Manchester United have been strongly connected to the playmaker over the last couple of weeks, with United squad members admitting to being hopeful that Nasri will make the move.

While Manchester City and Chelsea have both come into the mix for Nasri’s signature, United are favourites to get the 24-year-old on board, with Sir Alex Ferguson hoping to lower the average age of his squad and rebuild over summer.

United have been particularly active in the transfer market of late, spending over £50 million on David De Gea, Ashely Young and Phil Jones, and Ferguson still has a large budget to make a move for a midfield signing.

While £20 million isn’t enough for Arsene Wenger to give up Nasri, £25 million may be closer to the mark, and if Ferguson does decide to up his bid by £5 million, he may be able to steal the march on all of his rivals and take Nasri to Old Trafford after all.
