Liverpool forward holds transfer exit meetings

Milan Jovanovic has held talks with Anderlecht over a potential move out of Liverpool.

Jovanovic has been told that he is free to leave Anfield, and has been linked with Anderlecht and FC Brugge. Wolfsburg have reportedly had a bid turned down in January.

"I'm still under contract with Liverpool, but we already agreed that I can leave for free and that I can find myself a new club,” Jovanovic said.

"And I can tell you that I already had a meeting with Anderlecht officials, it was quite interesting. I had dinner with the club president and director of sport.

"We will see what will happen, but Anderlecht remains an interesting option."


 

It is believed that the remaining two years of Jovanovic’s Liverpool contract, which is rumoured to be in the region of £60,000 a week, will be bought out by the club.

Jovanovic was brought to Liverpool last summer on a free transfer under the authority of then-manager Rafael Benitez.

However, the Serbian international didn’t fit into either subsequent managers Roy Hodgson nor Kenny Dalglish’s plans, as Jovanovic only featured in five Barclays Premier League matches for Liverpool.

Jovanovic’s departure from Anfield has been expected since the end of the season, but the process was expected to sped up with the signatures of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam.
