Manchester City's bid to sign Sergio Aguero could be helped by his father-in-law, Diego Maradona's, preference to stay away from Italy, according to The Mirror.

Juventus are reportedly leading the race to capture Aguero, following the player revealed that he wish to leave Athletico Madrid.

However, Maradona's reputation in Italy, after his playing days there, mean a deal taking him to the Old Lady might be difficult, leaving City as a potential destination.

The FIFA Player of the Century is reportedly favouring that Aguero move to England, with City the most likely destination.

The imminent departure of Carlos Tevez means City are short in attack, and Aguero is seen as the ideal replacement.
