Real Madrid legend Raul could be poised for an exit from Schalke next summer, with the long term United target not signing a new contract, according to Talksport.

While Raul is tied to Schalke until 2012, sources are claiming that the German club haven’t been able to agree to terms with the 34-year-old for a new deal.

Manchester United have chased the Champions League all time goalscorer for some time, and Raul went so far as to claim that United wanted to sign him when he left the Spanish giants in 2010.

While Raul has reportedly enjoyed his time with Schalke, he is open to a deal with a new club, and Manchester United are on alert as Sir Alex Ferguson makes long term plans for the side.
