Plymouth striker Rory Patterson has joined Irish Premiership champions Linfield on a one-year loan deal.

The Northern Ireland international returns to his homeland with just 12 months remaining on his Argyle contract, meaning his time at Home Park appears to have come to an end.

Patterson spent just one season with the Pilgrims, scoring four times in a total of 35 appearances following his move from Coleraine.

The 27-year-old had signed a pre-contract agreement with Glentoran but instead moved to Plymouth last summer without playing a game for the club.

It remains to be seen whether his loan deal with Linfield leads onto a permanent move.
