Chelsea have submitted a bid for Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, according to BBC Sport.

The player's club, Anderlecht, confirmed last month that they were in talks with The Blues about Lukaku's transfer, despite interest from Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

But now reports suggest a bid has been made for his services by Chelsea, for a player reportedly worth £18 million.

The 18-year-old has previously stated his want to join the Premier League, and appeared on the verge of joining Chelsea before the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.

The Portuguese manager has barely been in the job a month, but has already been linked with a host of targets, including Luka Modric.

Lukakua has been compared to current Chelsea forward Didier Drogba for is uncompromising style in attack, and could go on to replace the Ivorian this summer.
