Leicester City have won the race to sign Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson.

The injury-plagued midfielder has been linked with a handful of clubs in the Npower Championship, but is hoping to rejuvenate his career under Sven Goran-Erikson at the King Power Stadium.

Leeds United were thought to be one of the favourites to land the 23-year-old on loan this summer, with the Whites keeping a close eye on the player as recently as last week.

Simon Grayson sent Leeds scout Gwyn Williams to watch Johnson play for City's second string, with a view to potentially resurrecting a prior deal which fell through because of injury.

However, the Elland Road outfit have once again missed out on adding the former England U21 international to their ranks at Leeds United, and the player will now ply his trade with their promotion rivals on a season-long deal.
