Foxes wrap up Fernandes signing

Leicester have completed the signing of Switzerland international midfielder Gelson Fernandes.

The 24-year-old, who played under boss Sven-Goran Eriksson at Manchester City, arrives at the King Power Stadium on a season-long loan deal from French club Saint Etienne with a view to making a permanent switch to the Midlands club.

"Gelson is a hugely experienced footballer and we are delighted he is joining us," said Eriksson.

"He is an all-round midfielder who can sit and protect the defence but he is also a box-to-box player.

"He has played for Manchester City and he has also played in Serie A and Ligue 1.

"He has great energy and determination, qualities which will help us this season."
