Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart believes that Luka Modric has settled back into life at White Hart Lane, and won’t be leaving for different pastures this summer after all.

Modric has been the subject of a great deal of speculation over the past couple of months, after Spurs failed to qualify for the Champions League.

While the Croatia international admitted to being interested in joining Chelsea, Tottenham have insisted that Modric is not going to Stamford Bridge, or any other club, and van der Vaart has backed this stance.

"I'm really happy that Luka is going to stay because he's been a really good player for us," the Dutchman told Sky Sports News.

"The chairman always said he's going to stay and there's no question about it."

Tottenham have been relatively quiet in the transfer window so far, making a sole purchase of Aston Villa keeper Brad Friedel. Chelsea have reportedly made up to three bids in their pursuit of Modric, but van der Vaart remains confident that Spurs will keep the midfielder.
