Second-half goals from Tyrone Barnett and substitute Wesley Thomas gave Crawley their first-ever Football League win as Macclesfield were beaten 2-0.
Last season`s Conference champions were good value for their win against defence-minded visitors.
Former Macclesfield striker Barnett powerfully headed home a Scott Davies corner in the 58th minute.
Barnett had forced the corner moments earlier when his low shot was pushed wide by the legs of goalkeeper Jose Veiga.
Veiga produced a fine one-handed save to deny David Hunt but substitute Thomas made the game safe for Crawley 15 minutes from time with a looping header. Thomas got the better of Veiga in an aerial challenge after a throughball by Sergio Torres.
Macclesfield rarely posed an attacking threat and came closest to scoring when Tony Diagne had a shot saved by Scott Shearer.
