Gillingham welcome back midfielder Luke Rooney for the visit of Plymouth.

Rooney completed a three-match ban with the passing of Wednesday's 2-2 draw at Barnet following his red card in the opening-day victory over Cheltenham.

Manager Andy Hessenthaler has no new injury concerns from midweek.

Striker Stefan Payne, who failed to feature at Underhill but has managed a couple of substitute appearances this term, has picked up a virus and is a doubt having missed training over the last couple of days.

Midfielder Chris Whelpdale remains sidelined with the calf injury he picked up last weekend, while Adam Birchall (knee) continues his lengthy recovery.

Centre-half Simon King will again be monitored as he looks to shrug off tonsillitis.

Plymouth boss Peter Reid is short of options for the trip.

The club are looking to claim their first league win of the season but will have to do so without captain Carl Fletcher.

The midfielder has not recovered after he aggravated his thigh strain during last Saturday's 4-1 home defeat to Rotherham.

Midfielder Robbie Williams will again be absent. He is yet to feature this campaign after suffering a bruised heel in pre-season.

Midfielder Simon Walton came down with a stomach bug on Thursday but is expected to be passed fit for the game.

Warren Feeney and Tom Hitchcock are likely to start in attack despite the fact neither has scored a goal this season.
