Blackburn Rovers are said to have agreed a £5million deal with Birmingham City for the services of Scott Dann, who has also attracted interest from Liverpool and Arsenal reports the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old Blues defender has been the subject of much media speculation this summer, following the Midlands outfit's relegation to the Npower Championship last season.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was rumoured to be considering a move for the impressive stopper, but now looks to be on the verge of signing Uruguayan international Sebastian Coates - whose Anfield arrival is pending only the approval of a work permit.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger meanwhile, has been urged to strengthen his defence at the Emirates Stadium, with pressure increasing following Arsenal's humiliating 8-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday.

Having been heavily linked with a move for Gary Cahill, it is unclear whether or not Arsenal retain a genuine interest in Dann after Gunners scouts were deployed to watch him in a pre-season friendly against Tottenham earlier this summer.

But as deadline day fast approaches, and with Arsenal seemingly no closer to reaching an agreement with Bolton, Wenger, the typically frugal Frenchman, may consider renewing interest in Dann, and rival Blackburn in their attempts to sign the player.
