Leicester City’s desperate search for a striker has led them to make a bid for Nicky Maynard according to the Daily Mirror.

The club saw a £6.5 million bid for Nikica Jelavic rejected on Tuesday, and will now turn their attention to another of their targets in Maynard.

A bid of £6 million has reportedly been made, which would be a record bid for Leicester City.

Maynard spent most of last season on the sidelines, but was still able to net six goals in 13 games, and has already scored three goals this season for City.

West Ham United were reportedly interested in the forward, but having secured a deal for Sam Baldock, Leicester are now the favourites to snatch the forward.

The forward was also linked with a move to Southampton, who saw their 100% start to the Npower Championship ended by Leicester last weekend.
