Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has dismissed claims the club were pursuing Kaka on deadline day.
Sky Sports News claimed just hours before the 11pm deadline on Wednesday night that the Brazilian midfielder had emerged as a Spurs target, but Redknapp was quick to dismiss the speculation.
Instead, the Tottenham Hotspur boss had turned his attention to Gary Cahill, but also failed to secure the services of the England international centre back.
"No, there's no big one. We tried to hook a big one but he got away," said the Spurs boss when questioned on a possible move for the Real Madrid star.
“That (Cahill) was the only big one we tried to do today but we couldn’t quite get it over the line.
"Daniel (Levy, Spurs chairman) has been trying hard but we just couldn’t make it happen."
Tottenham Hotspur did have success earlier in the day, bringing Scott Parker to White Hart Lane in a deal reported to be in the region of £5 million.
