West Brom striker Simon Cox has ruled out a loan move away from the Hawthorns, and insists he wants to stay and fight for his place in the first-team.

Having made only one cameo substitute appearance for the Baggies this term, the 24-year-old forward has found opportunities limited under Roy Hodgson, and finds himself behind summer signing Shane Long, and last season's top goalscorer Peter Odemwingie in the club's pecking order.

"The reason I'm not playing at club level is because we've got so many good players at the club," Cox told the Birmingham Mail. "It just isn't my time at the moment. [But] that will come.

"I'm a patient sort of person, it just depends how long I can be patient for before it makes me decide if it's best for me to stay or leave."

Waiting for his chance to stake a claim for a regular spot in the West Brom side, Cox admits on a personal level it is frustrating viewing when watching from the sidelines, but remains excited by the potential of Long - the club's record signing, and says he won't be looking to engineer a move away just yet.

"That's a long time down the road yet," he continued. "And I'm happy to fight for my place.

"With Shane having come in and done so well so far, it's been good for everyone."
