Santos starlet Neymar won't leave the club in January, according to his father.

Barcelona and Real Madrid were both reportedly interested in the forward this summer, with Barca opting for Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas instead.

Madrid made significant improvements in other areas, however Chelsea are still on the look out with rumours circulating that the trio could make a move for Neymar in the January transfer window.

"Nothing has changed, and the project remains the same as last year," Neymar's father told Lancenet.

"Santos decided not to sell Neymar and so that's it [as far as I'm concerned].

Chelsea were able to tempt Juan Mata, Raul Meireles and Romelu Lukaku to the club this summer, however with the age of their squad still a concern, Neymar may still be a viable option.

The 19-year-old burst on the scene for his country, in Brazil's friendly victory over Scotland earlier this summer, alerting the likes of Chelsea to his ability.
