Manchester United are hoping to beat Chelsea to the signing of Serbian winger Milos Krasic, according to talkSPORT.

Despite buying Ashley Young this summer, and having Nani and Antonio Valencia in their ranks, the Barclays Premier League champions are keen to add to their forward line.

However, Chelsea are also keen on the player, and could offer a swap deal involving Brazilian defender Alex to usurp United's bid.

United are reportedly the front runners for Krasic, and talks have already begun between the club and the player's agent to arrange a deal to go through during the January transfer window.

Juventus, Krasic's club, and known admirers of Chelsea's Alex and could be tempted by a swap, while Russian big spenders Anzhi are also reportedly interested in the Serb.

Chelsea and United could both offer the player Champions League football, while Juventus will go without European competition after finishing seventh in Serie A last season.
