Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has criticised refereeing guidelines after seeing six of his players booked during Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth.

Referee Darren Deadman also yellow carded three Portsmouth players, causing the Seasiders boss to accuse him of being "far too officious".

"It was far too officious, if that's how they're being asked to referee then they should seriously question it," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I'm not griping about it. I just think it almost ruined a good game.

"Do we really need to referee like that? I don't think so.

"I didn't see a bad tackle in the game.

"If we need that many bookings in a game I'm ever so sorry."
