Paolo Di Canio has strengthened his Swindon Town side with the loan addition of defender Liam Ridehalgh.

The 20-year-old Huddersfield Town full back has been struggling for first team opportunities this term after impressing in the absence of Gary Naysmith last season, and is eager to get some games under his belt at the County Ground.

"Hopefully I can play as many games as I can down here and do well not just for myself, but for Swindon and the fans," he told the Swindon Town TV online.

"It's been a bit of a frustrating start to the season but I am really looking forward to getting involved with Swindon and playing some games that mean something.

"I played a lot of games last season - which was great - but things haven't worked out for me so far this term."

Allocated the number 36, Ridehalgh has joined on a one-month emergency deal, and will be looking to make his mark after a whirlwind two days that ended with joining his colleagues on Wednesday morning.

"I found out about the move on Monday and got myself down here on Tuesday before training with the lads this morning," he continued.

"For the next month I'm a Swindon player and I can't wait to get going."
