Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill felt the performances of Benjani and Bjorn Helge Riise against Peterborough bode well for the future.

Benjani grabbed his first goal of the season and Fulham loanee Riise impressed on his debut as Cotterill took some positives from Tuesday night's agonising 3-2 defeat.

"That gets Benji up and running now, so hopefully it will help him. Strikers always want to get scoring," said Cotterill.

"Riise hasn't done enough training with the lads yet but I thought he worked his socks off. He was part of a good team performance."

Erik Huseklepp turned a low cross into his own net to gift Posh the points at Fratton Park and Cotterill is hoping for better luck when they head to Leeds on Saturday.

He added: "We've just got to get on with it and look forward to going to Leeds at the weekend."
