Manchester City youngster Reece Wabara is close to joining Ipswich Town on loan, according to Paul Jewell.

The England youth international, who is yet to make a senior appearance for the Citizens this season, is expected to join the Tractor Boys later today, providing the finalisation of some minor details ahead of the proposed emergency loan.

"We're hoping that will get done today. He's an England U20 international, is quick, can play at centre-back but right-back is his preferred position," said Jewell on the player.

Wabara has represented the Manchester City first team once, appearing on the last day of the 2010/11 season against Bolton for Roberto Mancini's side.

However, further opportunities have understandably been limited for the full back, given the plethora of talent at the disposal of the Manchester City manager, and a short-term move away from the Etihad Stadium may prove beneficial for all parties.

Wabara represented the England U20s at the World Cup this summer, and could face Brighton this weekend for Ipswich if the move from Manchester City goes through.
