Gary Roberts may not figure in Port Vale's first-team plans for a long while after breaching club discipline.
The 24-year-old was suspended for two weeks from September 19 for failing to attend training and manager Micky Adams has said he has a lot of work to do right the wrongs.
"He's got a lot to do," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke.
"If somebody treats their profession, his manager, team and supporters with the contempt he did, he's got a lot to do to get back anywhere near the side."
Meanwhile, Vale have confirmed defender Lee Collins will require an operation to help cure a groin injury which has already kept him out of action for a month.
