Manchester United have their eyes on Sporting Lisbon forward Ricky van Wolfswinkel, according to Portuguese source Luso O Correiro da Manha.

Wolfswinkel has scored four goals in five leagues games for Sporting, as well as two goals in the Champions League.

Such has been the 22-year-old's form that despite having only signed from FC Utrecht in the summer the Dutchman has been linked with a move to United.

"We have not seen the best of Ricky," he agent Louis Laros said.

"He can do much more. He's still in the process of adaption.

"He feels really good."

Even with Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez in attack, it appears United aren't finished adding to their forward options.

With Dimitar Berbatov's future from from certain, United may be tempted to make a bid for the forward, whose release clause is a reported €22 million.

United showed this summer that they aren't afraid to spend big to retain their status at English football's No.1 club, with Ashley Young, Phil Jones and David De Gea joining for a combined fee of over £50 million.
