Jay Simpson scored twice for the reserves and Josh McQuoid made his return to action to give Millwall manager Kenny Jackett a boost as he attempts to cure his side's problems in front of goal.

The Lions have scored only once in their last seven matches but had no such problems as they drew 3-3 with Crystal Palace's reserves.

Simpson's brace came either side of a goal from youngster Dammi Shitta, but a Calvin Andrew double and Andy Dorman's strike secured a draw for Palace.

Northern Ireland striker McQuoid got 90 minutes under his belt after a spell on the sidelines through illness to stake his claim for a place against Middlesbrough a week on Saturday.

Reserves boss Richard Shaw told the club's website: "The attitude and will to win was spot-on.

"The match was how a reserve fixture should be, played in a good spirit at a high tempo and everyone got something worthwhile out of it."
