Carlton is number one

Morecambe striker Danny Carlton has been named npower League Two player of the month for September.

Carlton netted five goals in as many games during the month to help the Shrimps consolidate their terrific early-season form and maintain a spot in the division's automatic promotion places.

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley was pleased for the forward, telling football-league.co.uk: "He works tremendously hard in training and I am delighted that he has won this award, both for him and his team-mates."
