Bury recorded back-to-back wins for only the second time this season after beating Exeter 2-0.

Building on the previous week's win at Yeovil, the Shakers confidently took the points through an Andy Bishop strike and Matt Oakley's own goal.

The hosts made their intentions clear within 45 seconds although Mike Jones could only fire wide from David Amoo's cross.

But it didn't take them long to edge in front, with Bishop powering a header home from Peter Sweeney's in-swinging corner.

Chances were few and far between for Exeter but Trevor Carson made a good reaction stop to deny Guillem Bauza from point-blank range.

Bury doubled their lead four minutes after the break when Oakley scored a bizarre own goal, unable to do anything as Jones' cross cannoned off him and into the net.

Artur Krysiak prevented Giles Coke from adding a third, getting down well to save the midfielder's close-range drive.

For their part, Exeter never seriously threatened, Liam Sercombe pulling possibly their best opening narrowly wide, while at the other end, Coke wasted a golden opportunity to add a final flourish in injury time.
