Manchester United target Marek Hamsik is stuck in a ‘golden prison’ at Napoli, according to his agent, with the Slovakia international hoping for a move away from the club next summer.

Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis has reportedly blocked multiple moves for the 24-year-old over the last summer, with AC Milan and Inter Milan also interested in taking Hamsik on board.

And while Manchester United have been closely monitoring the situation, Hamsik’s agent Mino Railoa claiming he is being held against his will at Napoli.

"I don’t know if this will be Hamsik’s last year at Napoli, but it is certainly a prison for him, albeit a golden one,” Railoa said.

“I do not like players being held in a club against their will. I’m not just talking about Hamsik, but also Zlatan Ibrahimovic when he was at Barcelona.”

United have long been linked to Hamsik, with Talksport rating the midfielder at £35 million.

Hamsik is seen as a possible replacement for Paul Scholes, and would have lower wage demands than United’s long-standing target Wesley Sneijder.
