Former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere has signed a new three-year contract with Ligue 1 outfit Lorient.

The 28-year-old Frenchman has turned in some impressive performances of late, and having netted two goals already this season, his form has been rewarded with an improved deal.

"I am very happy to put pen to paper on a three-year contract," said Aliadiere. "I want to repay this club who has helped me.

"The season has started very well and I have found the net two times already. Now we need to push and be far from the relegation zone."

Having developed a strong relationship with Lorient after sending a number of Arsenal youngsters on loan to France, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger utilised his contacts book to help engineer a deal for Aliadiere, who had been training at the Emirates Stadium while he was without a club.

For that reason, Aliadiere revealed he will always hold Arsenal close to his heart, and paid tribute to his former boss.

"I love that team so I am always shouting for them," he added. "They will get back to where they belong.

"Arsene Wenger is a great man and coach so they will be back for sure. I did not play too much there as I was always injured but that is life."
