Everton are reportedly set to move for FC Dallas defender George John.

The highly-rated 24-year-old was close to a Barclays Premier League move during the summer transfer window, with Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean close to securing the player's signature before Wigan showed an interest in the player.

Now, the Daily Mail claims Everton have joined the race to sign the MLS star, with David Moyes eager to bolster his defence at Goodison Park.

The report goes on to claim Toffees' stopper Tim Howard has made manager Moyes aware of the player's potential, with the USA international eager to see his compatriot make the move to Everton in the January transfer window.

Whilst the exact figure Everton would have to pay for the player is unclear, it's reported that £1.2 million was the fee touted for his services in August.
