Kolo Toure could make a gallant return to Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail, with Arsene Wenger considering an ‘audacious swoop’ for the star.

While Wenger was delighted after the Gunners’ 5-3 win on the weekend, he still reportedly wants to perfect the back four, with a January spending spree looking more and more likely as the side aim to break their trophyless spell.

While Arsenal purchased defenders Per Mertesacker and Andres Santos in the summer transfer period, neither have set the Barclays Premier League alight over the start of the season, with problems in pace showing as Arsenal concede a great amount of goals.

Meanwhile, Toure is currently struggling for game time at City, and Arsenal believe that they may be able to coax the 30-year-old back to the Emirates if the Gunners can show over the next two months that they’re serious about staking their claim on the top four.

Toure is currently in dispute with City over a substantial image rights fee, and if he continues to have problems with the club, he may prefer a move to Arsenal in January.
