Manchester United will attempt to sign Valencia full-back Jordi Alba, as a replacement for Patrice Evra.

Alba is one of the rising stars of Spanish football and made his international bow against Scotland last month.

United scouts have been a close eye on the defender, and see him as an idea replacement for the 30-year-old Patrice Evra.

A bid for Alba will sparked a raid on La Liga, with United eyeing Javi Martinez and Bruno Soriano.

Martinez is valued at £30 million, while Soriano is likely to be sodded for as little as £10 million during the transfer window.

Sir Alex Ferguson spent most of the summer breathing new life into his United squad, and may use the upcoming transfer window to make more advances in the transfer market.
