United and City dealt blow in playmaker pursuit – report

Marek Hamsik is set to sign a new deal with Napoli, according to Talksport, with the playmaker ready to show his commitment to the Serie A side with improved terms.

Hamsik has starred for Napoli since he signed for the side in 2007, and as a result, the 24-year-old has attracted attention from numerous European sides.

Manchester City and Manchester United in particular are interested in Hamsik, with City reportedly trying to outbid their cross-town rivals to secure the star’s signature.

While he is currently contracted to the club until 2015, Hamsik is still attracting attention from the likes of City and United.

But despite both City and United being able to offer Hamsik Champions League football and the ability to challenge for a Barclays Premier League title, the Slovakia international is happy to stay at Napoli.
