Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is fully aware of the history behind the Reds No.7 and says he feels privileged to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Kevin Keegan and Kenny Dalglish.

Suarez has done the shirt proud since he joined from Ajax during the January transfer window with comparisons having already been made between the two.

And Suarez says he can't help but think of those who have gone before, adding that he always dreamed to featuring for Liverpool

"It gives me huge pride," he said.

"When I think about the players who have worn it before, like Kenny Dalglish or Kevin Keegan, it's been legends at the club.

"When I go onto the pitch, I am aware of the privilege I have been given to wear that number."

"When I was a kid playing on the PlayStation, I always chose Liverpool. I've never said it before, but they were already my team at that time," he said.

"It was funny, because at the time I played on the screen beside Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres, guys who were at the club when I came.

"To me it was a dream come true."

Suarez is one of four Premier League players nominated for the Ballon d'Or, following not only his exploits domestically, but for his country, he he finished as top scorer in the Copa America, as Uruguay strolled to victory.
