Liverpool have joined Chelsea in the chase for Newcastle's £25million-rated midfielder Cheick Tiote reports the Sunday Mirror.
The 25-year-old Ivorian international made his Magpies comeback in yesterday's goalless draw with Swansea, playing his first game for Alan Pardew's side since October 22.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is believed to have sent scouts to St James' Park to run the rule over Tiote ahead of an attempt to bring the tough-tackling African ace to Anfield in January.
However, Liverpool are likely to face competition for his signature, as Chelsea and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in his services.
Blues boss Andre Villas-Boas remains the favourite to land a player who has long been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, but any hopes the Portuguese tactician may have had of agreeing a deal has now been dealt a blow amid reported interest from Liverpool.
