Redknapp tempted by England role

Harry Redknapp admits he's find it difficult to turn down the England managers position if he were offered the role following Fabio Capello's departure.

The Italian is expected to leave the role when his contract expires after the summer's European Championships.

Given his success with Tottenham Hotspur, which saw Redknapp guide the club to the Champions League quarter-finals last season, and to within six points of the Premier League summit.

"I've always said it's the pinnacle for any Englishman to manage their country.

"When Fabio Capello finishes, I would like to see them give it to an Englishman.

"If it came along, it would be difficult to turn it down for any Englishman."

If the 64-year-old were to take the position he'd be leaving behind a managerial club career spanning nearly 30 years.

Despite his wealth of experience, Redknapp's trophy success has been sporadic, attaining promotion from Division Three and the Football League Trophy during his time at Bournemouth, while in two spells at Portsmouth he claimed promotion to the Premier League and an FA Cup win.

Such is his relationship with the club game, Redknapp says he'd find it difficult leaving that side of the game.

"I enjoy the day-to-day coming in to work with players, going out on the training pitch every day, seeing the players," Redknapp added.

"I don't know if seeing players once every six or seven weeks....it would be different for me and I would find it very difficult.

"I would be very bored, I imagine."
