Chelsea representative makes Higuain contact

Chelsea have reportedly made an initial approach for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentine has found the net 18 times in 30 appearances for club and country this season, but is not a guaranteed starter at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea have frequently been linked with a January move for Higuain of late as Andre Villas-Boas considers bringing goalscoring reinforcements to Stamford Bridge during the transfer window.

And, according to Spanish publication AS, an agent acting on behalf of Chelsea made contact with Higuain's father and agent Jorge last week.

However, Higuain Snr is said to have informed the Blues that his son would only leave Real if he submitted a transfer request, which is something he is not prepared to do.

Higuain Snr did, however, state publicly over the weekend that the interest of Chelsea is flattering.
