Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has every confidence that Andre Villas-Boas is up to the task at Stamford Bridge.

Villas-Boas has endured a difficult start to life at the helm in west London, and has already as good as conceded his side are out of the race for the title.

Chelsea find themselves in fourth place in the Barclays Premier League at the midway point - some 11 points behind leaders Manchester City.

December proved to be a particular difficult month for Villas-Boas, with Chelsea winning only two of their six league fixtures, including a run of four games without a victory.

But Monday represented a recovery of sorts for the Blues as they snatched a last minute win away at Wolves, thanks to a goal from midfield stalwart Frank Lampard.

And Mata believes things will continue to get better for Chelsea under the stewardship of Villas-Boas.

"It's true we've had a little crisis of results," said Mata.

"But Villas-Boas is doing things very well and both the players and the club have a lot of confidence in him. He won everything with Porto last year.

"I get along with the coach and he tries to talk to every player in his own language."
