QPR chairman Tony Fernandes expects to appoint a new manager today as Mark Hughes moves closer to taking over at Loftus Road.

Talks were set to continue today between the club and former Manchester City, Wales and Fulham boss Hughes, who is QPR's first choice to replace the sacked Neil Warnock.

Hughes is in line to take charge of the team for the first time against Newcastle on Sunday. Fernandes, responding to an enquiry on Twitter, wrote: "Yes I am sure we will be announcing new QPR manager today."
