Arsenal reportedly want to bring Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou to the Emirates Stadium during the transfer window.

Kalou is far from a guaranteed starter at Stamford Bridge and has frequently been linked with a January move away from west London.

Arsenal has been touted as a potential destination for the 26-year-old, as Arsene Wenger considers adding further forward options to his ranks.

And now, according to the Daily Mail, Kalou has been allowed to temporarily leave the Ivory Coast's preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in order to discuss a potential move to Arsenal.

Kalou's contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season and, it is claimed, would be available for around £3 million during the transfer window.

This cut-price deal would appear to appeal to Wenger, who has already signed Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, albeit on a temporary deal, this month.

Henry made the first appearance of his two-month loan spell on Monday night; scoring the winner against Leeds after coming on as a substitute.
