Wigan Athletic are set to turn their attention towards recruiting Manchester United forward Mame Biram Diouf to assist their Barclays Premier League survival bid.

The summer departure of Charles N'Zogbia has had a dramatic effect on the club's goal tally, with The Latics having netted just 18 times, the lowest in the league.

The haul has also affected their league position, with Wigan two points from safety.

Diouf's appearances this term have been restricted to the Carling Cup, while he's netted just once since his move to the Premier League champions, back in 2010.

A loan spell with Blackburn Rovers saw him net six times for the Ewood Park side during his season-long loan their last season.
