Liverpool were held to a goalless draw by Stoke City as The Reds recorded their seventh home league draw of the season.

Following their League Cup semi-final first leg win over Manchester City, the hosts came into the contest high on confidence, but they failed to truly test a Stoke side who rarely threatened at Anfield.

Matthew Etherington’s first-half effort was the only shot on target Tony Pulis’ side could muster as they soaked up ample Liverpool pressure.

Dirk Kuyt had the best opportunity for Kenny Dalglish’s side, but headed wide as Stoke fought for a point.
