Arsenal face competition from European clubs in the race to sign highly-rated French striker Olivier Giroud, according to reports.

The Montpellier hitman has been in sensational form this season, scoring 16 goals in just 23 Ligue 1 appearances as La Paillade make a shock challenge for the title alongside Paris St. Germain this season.

Indeed, the two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in a top-of-the-table clash last night, with talkSPORT reporting that scouts from Napoli and Bayern Munich were in attendance at the Parc des Princes.

Arsene Wenger is reported to be a huge admirer of the 25-year-old forward, with the Gunners only last week said to be keen on adding the player at the end of the season.

French publication L'Equipe have since claimed that £14 million could be enough to lure the player away from the Stade de la Mosson, although reaching the Champions League could be key for the Emirates Stadium outfit to luring Giroud to the capital.
