Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to rule out a return to the Old Trafford club.

The Real Madrid goal-machine was speaking with current Red Devils defender Rio Ferdinand on the England international’s iPhone app, according to Goal.com.

In it Ferdinand asks the Portugal international if he would one day return to play for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, to which he replied: “You never know, my friend.”

It will be enticing news for many United fans who have had to watch their former prized asset break numerous scoring records in Madrid under Jose Mourinho.

Ronaldo left Old Trafford in 2009 when the La Liga giants paid a world record transfer fee worth £80million to lure winger away from Manchester.

There have been reports recently that 27-year-old has become unhappy in Madrid due to fans’ criticism of him based on poor performances against Barcelona.

This reaction by fans to their star player has led many to believe he is ready to walk away from Los Merengues.
