Gary Megson has vowed to one day return to Sheffield Wednesday to complete the job he started following his sacking on Wednesday night.

Megson was ousted from the Hillsborough hot-seat by chairman Milan Mandaric after just over a year in charge, despite the Owls lying third in npower League One and having beaten their city rivals United in the Steel City derby on Sunday. The 52-year-old is expected to be replaced by former Cardiff manager Dave Jones on Friday.

In a statement issued through the League Managers Association, Megson said: "With just 13 games left this season and currently in third place in npower League One, it is very disappointing that I will not have the chance to guide this great club to promotion. At some point in the future, I would love to come back to Hillsborough to finish the job."
