Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen says he is interested in a summer move to Arsenal, although insists any potential transfer is far from done.
The Belgium international is one of Ajax's prized assets and, thus, has frequently been linked with a move away from the Amsterdam Arena.
Arsenal has always appeared to be the most likely destination for the 24-year-old, although Tottenham and Chelsea have also been credited with interest in his signature.
Joining the Gunners is certainly a prospect that appeals to Vertonghen, and he has already informed his agent that he would like to sign for Arsenal, should the opportunity present itself.
This has yet to transpire, although Vertonghen is holding out hope of sorts that Arsene Wenger will come calling at the end of the season.
"Arsenal are a magnificent club and I hear a lot of good things about English football," Vertonghen said, according to the Daily Mail.
"If a club of Arsenal's calibre can reach agreement with Ajax, then I will gladly go over.
"I have instructed my agent carefully. He knows which clubs I want to join, and Arsenal are one of them."
He added: "I haven't signed anything with them yet."
Should Vertonghen sign for Arsenal, he would be linking up with international teammate Thomas Vermaelen, and will provide extra competition for places at centre-back.
