Chinese side Guizhou Renhe will launch an audacious bid for England duo Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard, the club's chairman has confirmed.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka moved to Shanghai Shenhua during the January transfer window, with ex-teammate Didier Drogba likely to join him at the end of the season.

Guizhou have ambitions of following in Shenhua's footsteps, by bringing two of the Premier League's biggest names to help enhance the Chinese Super League.

"I want the best team in China and we are prepared to invest a lot of money to bring Ferdinand and Lampard to us," Guizhou chairman told The Sun.

"Many people here watch the Premier League and know how good the two players are."

Super agent Pini Zahavi believes the ambition of Chinese clubs means anything could happen in the upcoming transfer window.

"When the Chinese want to achieve something they do it," he said.

"Football has become a big business for them now and they want to bring in the best players and managers."

Former England captain Ferdinand, 33, has a year to run on his current deal at Manchester United where he's won five Premier League titles and played in three European Cup finals, while having won 81 international caps.

Lampard, also 33, has made 21 league starts this season but was often overlooked by former manager Andre Villas-Boas during his eight-month spell at Chelsea.

Having scored at least 10 league goals in each of the last nine seasons, and collected 90 England caps, Lampard have often proved himself to be indispensable to both club and country.
