Pogba deal on table at United

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes the club have finally come to an agreement over the future of young midfielder Paul Pogba.

The 19-year-old French youth international has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer, with Serie ‘A’ giants Juventus one of the clubs thought to be keen on signing the teenager once his contract expires.

However, the Red Devils have put a four-year deal on the table in-front of the talented former Le Havre starlet, and Ferguson is expecting the situation to be finalised relatively soon.

“We’ve agreed a deal with his agent. It’s now down to the boy. I think he’s about to make his decision soon,” said the Scottish boss.

“He knows what the qualities United have got to offer. He knows his future is guaranteed here. He’s going to be an outstanding footballer, there’s no question about that.

“He’s going to be a first-team footballer at Manchester United there’s no question. Hopefully we will get some good news on that soon.”

The major stumbling block over Pogba’s future has been a lack of first team opportunities at Old Trafford, with the youngster making three league and three League Cup appearances this term.

Pogba also featured once in Europe and was in contention to play against Everton on Sunday afternoon, but damaged ankle ligaments in a reserve team match on Monday means his season is now over.
