Former Chelsea boss set for management return

Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is close to agreeing a deal to replace Luis Enrique at Roma this summer, it has been claimed.

Enrique has struggled to win over supporters during his first season in the Italian capital, and Roma sit in seventh place in Serie A - 15 points behind leaders Juventus.

According to Goal.com, the former Barcelona midfielder has taken the decision himself to step down at the end of the season owing to exhaustion, and Villas-Boas is in talks to replace him.

Villas-Boas was sacked by Chelsea in early March after only eight months in charge at Stamford Bridge, and has been linked with numerous posts since his departure from west London.

The 34-year-old Portuguese was recruited by Roman Abramovich as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti and tasked with reenergising an ageing squad.

Villas-Boas could not, however, transmit the ideals that had served him so well with Porto, and he was relieved of his duties after Chelsea lost to West Brom at the Hawthorns on March 3.

Since Villas-Boas' departure, the Blues have lost only once in 16 games under Roberto di Matteo, and have made the finals of the FA Cup and Champions League.
