Didier Drogba will reportedly play his last game for Chelsea in the Champions League final on Saturday week, and will leave west London for pastures new at the end of the season.

The veteran striker is out of contract this summer and is a target for former teammate Nicolas Anelka at Shanghai Shenua.

However, reports The Mirror, Drogba's preferred option is to stay with Chelsea for the remainder of his career, but the club have given short shrift to his proposal of a new two-year deal.

It is claimed the 34-year-old will now be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season on a free transfer, and Chelsea will proceed to build around Fernando Torres.

Drogba has been a fantastic servant to Chelsea during almost eight years with the club, and created FA Cup history last Saturday when he became the only player to score in four finals.

And, although the Ivorian wants to stay with Chelsea, he has the opportunity to bow out in a blaze of glory by winning the Champions League during his final crack at the competition.
