Arsenal transfer target Jan Vertonghen has admitted it would be difficult to turn down a move to AC Milan, according to goal.com.

The Ajax captain, who was close to securing a move to White Hart Lane before the deal broken down over a £16m fee, still has one year remaining on his contract but is expected to leave the Dutch club this summer.

Spurs were thought to be in pole position to secure his signature and Vertonghen reportedly visited White Hart Lane to watch Tottenham play Fulham at the weekend. However, the 25-year-old has now admitted he would find it impossible to reject the chance to join AC Milan.

Speaking to MilanNews.it, Vertonghen said: "I like the Premier League, but if Milan call you, you cannot say no."

The Belgian international has 36 caps for his country and has been with Ajax since 2003, making more than 150 league appearances.

He is expected to leave Holland this summer, with a number of Premier League clubs vying for his signature, but it appears that Milan are now his preferred destination. The Italian club finished second to Juventus in this year's Serie A campaign.
